What did it mean to be Jewish in 200 CE.? In 1200? How did Jewish religion and culture develop and change over time? In this exploration of the origins of the Jewish people and Jewish culture, we will uncover the past by analyzing selections from classic texts, focusing on what they teach us about their authors, the times in which they were written and how they were seen by their original readers. Selected readings are not required for participation, nor is any previous knowledge of Jewish history or languages.
