Recognizing that films can provide unique insight into 20th- and 21st-century life, we will examine six films about the American Jewish family. By analyzing Marjorie Morningstar, Goodbye Columbus, Avalon, A Serious Man and others, we will gain a deeper understanding of how Jewish family life has evolved within the American landscape . . . and why. This is a course for anyone who loves movies and wants to better comprehend the American Jewish story.
