Blue Skies over New York: An Irving Berlin Benefit Concert
Monday, August 31
6:30 PM (EDT)
Free
Over a career that spanned more than six decades, Russian immigrant Irving Berlin — born Israel Beilin — wrote some of America’s most memorable music. From Blue Skies to God Bless America, his catalogue of over 1,000 songs has become an integral part of American musical life. Streamed from Berlin’s home in the Catskills, his great-grandchildren will perform a wide range of his most cherished songs. The Berlin family is partnering with Make the Road New York, a progressive immigrant-led organization based in New York, to raise money and build awareness around issues facing immigrant communities today.
Join us in paying musical tribute to America’s beloved popular composer – himself a Temple Emanu-El member!
