Separation of Church and State is a modern concept with no parallel in traditional Judaism. To the contrary, Judaism deems all realms of human life — including those we today consider “political” — relevant to its laws and concerns.

In this course, we will examine some of the central political issues of our day, from criminal justice reform to the environment, housing policy to labor rights, and discuss what traditional Jewish teachings have to say about them.

The Skirball Academy is currently offering classes virtually (over Zoom) for spring 2021.
