Dr. Eric Goldman: The Films of Barbra Streisand

Barbra Streisand rose to superstardom as a vocalist but went on to prove herself as a versatile actor and outstanding director. We will look at Streisand’s cinematic work, focusing on how she and her Jewish background influenced the films in which she appeared, even when she took no credit for her participation as cowriter.

Movies to be studied* include The Way We Were (1973), A Star Is Born (1976), Yentl (1983), The Prince of Tides (1991) and The Mirror Has Two Faces (1996).

*Movies will be screened in segments with breaks - students are recommended to watch the full film on their own.

Restrictions

REFUND POLICY

For classes that meet 6 weeks or longer, a full refund may be requested after the first class meeting. After the second class, a CREDIT of 75% will be given that may be used toward any course and is good for one year. No credit will be given after the third class. Tuition cannot be pro-rated if you cannot attend all class sessions.
