The Jewish Paul Mazursky
Tuesdays, 6:15 – 9:00 PM
July 16, 23, 30, August 6
OFFERED VIRTUALLY
At the beginning of his career as a film director, Paul Mazursky, the consummate character actor, had a propensity to draw from his life experiences and delve into the lives of Jewish New Yorkers with insight and profoundness. He studied what it was like to be a struggling artist in Greenwich Village, the trials of being a single Jewish man or Jewish woman in New York, and the psychological struggles of being a Holocaust survivor. We will study and analyze four samples of Mazursky's complex and insightful works.
Portions of the films will be shown during the course with pauses for discussion.
