Reaching for the Devine Amidst the Changing Light
Three times a day, at dawn, midday and evening, Jews have an obligation and an opportunity to enter a moment in time and connect inward, outward and upward, The language of Jewish prayer recognizes the changing light and the corresponding shift in the moods of the soul. Together, we’ll explore some of this liturgical imagery and, through it, enter into the underlying human truths. We’ll also explore the musical dimensions of prayer through radically diverse liturgical traditions from around the world. You’ll have an opportunity to respond to this poetry by creating prayerful art—and by sharing your creations with the class.
This Semester will cover Evening prayer
